What is the difference between the size of "L" and "large" in the march UnderArmour?

I bought a large turtleneck UnderArmour Cold Gear drill in the Amazon last month. It fits well, very well, but for example, the neck is a little loose and the sleeves a bit short. In Amazon's site, there are S, M and Ls, but also to small, medium and large! Is there a difference between all this? I have a friend who has a middle (but not neck turtle), I still have to prove, but says that the sleeves are perfectly cut and everything. Thanks for any answers!
